The fastest growing sport in the world, triathlon, has reached India with the announcement of the India International Triathlon event. The new triathlon event is set to take place in Goa, India’s no.1 tourist destination on February 14, 2010.

The event has been timed to coincide with the Goa Carnival, one of India's more famous Indian Carnivals. Held in mid February, it features three days and nights were the streets come alive with color with processions, floats, the strumming of guitars, graceful dances. Thanks to the coastal Konkan region and the backdrop of Western Ghats, weather in Goa is pleasant and sunny. The average temperature in February is: 26°C / 78°F

The destination event will have something for everyone as the event is set to host several races: International Triathlon: 1.5km Swim / 60km Bike / 11km Run and Olympic Distance Triathlon: 1.5km Swim / 40km Bike / 10km Run and a Sprint Triathlon: 500me Swim / 20km Bike / 5km Run. They will also have a Duathlon, 5km Fun Run and a Kids Dash to reach out to a wider audience and encourage participation across all age groups and individuals.

India International Triathlon will also have 18 qualifying slots for the newly announced 2010 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship and $30,000 USD prize purse.
